First of all, I am a Computer Science student so I don't have need of extensive support. I have already rented many servers from many different hosting companies.
Now on Strato: excellent uptime, good performance, kind of cheap enough. However, they are so misleading. I took a monthly contract that I cancelled this month. However, they want me to pay for next month as well! They have some vague reference to paying a month in advance, which they "translate" to "you have to pay for an extra month after you cancel well in advance".
What a crooked way to make money, misleading your customers like this. If you rent a server here, make sure you use some prepaid way of paying and don't fill in your real address or real name in case they want to make you pay extra for some of their mafia practices. I thought we were done with difficult to cancel subscriptions...
Always had problems and issues when ever you try and contact Strato. They may respond to a query in 48 hours which is no good when trying to sort a problem out. On trying to leave Strato and go to another provider is an absolute nightmare - nothing is simple. Then when cancelling a domain more and more problems, final straw they tell me after I cancelled that I have to give 1 months notice, so now demanding money and threatening legal action - I am so pleased to be moving away. This is not a very efficient 'friendly' company.
Absolutely dismal "service" now. Been with them since they took over Lycos.
Absolutely frustrated with this host now. When I used to call them, or they called me back it was ALWAYS the same man! Do they ONLY have one man to answer the phone? Now the helpline is constantly engaged. I am quitting this host as soon as I can.
Terrible service, opaque working methods and useless customer service - don't go anywhere near these charlatans
We've been trying to migrate our domain from STRATO for 6 x months now, and our new resource are unable to access our email addresses - STRATO are being positively obstructive. We've had no email service for 5 days now and cannot predict when the service will be fully functional.
DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WITH A BARGE POLE OR YOU'LL LIVE TO REGRET IT
Horrible customer services.. collected more money from me even when they claimed it's 30 days refund if you are not happy. Started new domain with them, their website claim it's 0.60p for the first year.. all lies.. collected more than 9 euros from me. rang them, they were rude and said they won't repeat themselves. Horrible, horrible Sack your English speaking staff.. very rude. will not recommend to anyone !
